Maypole Lane · Yapton · West Sussex · BN18 0DP
The Maypole Inn is a proper West Sussex local — an 18th century flint-built free house tucked down a quiet lane in Yapton, where beer has been sold on these premises since 1783. It's the last remaining pub in the village, and it wears that title well.
Inside you'll find a cosy lounge with a large inglenook woodburning stove, six handpumps serving up to four rotating real ales (often from small local breweries), an impressive gin selection, and a traditional public bar with darts and a jukebox. Outside, there's a decking area and a covered verandah — perfect for a Friday evening in the summer months.
It's the kind of pub that doesn't try too hard and doesn't need to. Dog-friendly, family-friendly, and warmly run — CAMRA branch pub of the year in 2011 and still going strong.
